Name-Dropping Clients: Art or Science?

 How frequently (if ever)  do you/your marketing team mention clients on your firm website or on your Linkedin company page? I dont mean naming names in "representative matters" in your bio; more like listing names of clients on a separate section of the website with the tab CLIENTS. Right next to the "Diversity and Inclusion" tab.

Or more cringe-worthy, does your firm congratulate clients on Linkedin or in a newsletter for accomplishments that had little nothing to do with legal work?

 

Is this just an entertainment law thing? Or is everyone wishing their biggest client Happy Birthday on Instagram?

Happy Easter, Passover and Ramada Inn, you filthy animals….

Recruiting Laterals is Now My Problem

 I have to be a bit cryptic but apparently I'm now an unpaid headhunter, just like David Lat! 

It seems our lateral acceptance rates are a bit...lackluster and so associates at my firm are being "asked" for input on marketing materials.  I guess our cringy Instagram account isn't the hot lateral catcher it was supposed to be.

 

Specifically, we're being asked to submit lies verbiage about the great work/life balance and psychic benefits of working at my firm, with special emphasis on how warm and welcoming the firm is to laterals.  with big books of business.

Seriously, is anyone looking for a new job remotely influenced by blather about "firm culture" in a job posting or on a firm's career page? 

My Apology to Judge Jackson: 4/1/2022

I apologize to everyone for my social media posts labeling Judge Jackson high-end free-pass affirmative action Ivy League kitchen help. That was wrong. We should continue to honor, promotc, and celebrate minority mediocrities when far more talented, far harder working, and far more accomplished people of all colors without effeminate male partners are far more deserving to serve on SCOTUS. I hope my apology is accepted.
