In a performative bid against "human trafficking," Texas has raised the legal age for working at a strip club from 18 to 21 years old, putting many employees out of work and putting clubs that hire them—even inadvertently—in risk of serious legal penalties, including up to 20 years in prison and a $10,000 fine. The state also updated part of its penal code to define "child" as anyone under age 21.

A judge for the State Bar of California has recommended a two-year suspension for Darryl Wayne Genis, a flamboyant Santa Barbara DUI attorney who has a history of courting high-profile cases as often as he does headline-grabbing controversy.
In her May 18 decision, Judge Cynthia Valenzuela cited two previous disciplinary actions against Genis ― a 30-day suspension for skipping scheduled hearings and “asking prohibited questions at trial,” and a 60-day suspension for on a prosecutor’s desk during a break in court proceedings, then “knowingly and intentionally misleading a judge” when confronted.
The “multiple acts of wrongdoing” by Genis, who has openly antagonized judges and prosecutors with personally belittling comments and threatened journalists with legal action who report on his behavior, demonstrate “bad faith, substantial harm to the administration of justice, and indifference,” Valenzuela said.

Everyone at GLAWKER is upset by the prospect of the Supreme Court accepting an abortion case for review and the prospect of the conservative leaning Supreme Court overturning Roe v. Wade. There are certainly a lot of things regarding Roe that are worth discussing. Beyond it's cultural and moral implications, Roe also has profound implications regarding the proper role of the Supreme Court.
In the last two days, JoePa has twice predicted (admittedly possibly in jest) that the Supreme Court is set to "ban" abortions overturning Roe v. Wade. This is, of course, silly. If Roe v. Wade is overturned, it will once again be up to the voters in each state to decide whether to allow abortion. The likely result will be that some states, such as California and New York will allow abortion with virtually no restrictions and some states, like Mississippi and Utah will completely ban abortion. The rest will probably be somewhere in between.
So, my question is this: Is JoePa so stupid that he doesn't know how the whole Federalism thing asctually works? Or is he just being intellectually dishonest in order to scare ignorant people into believing that the stakes here are different than they really are?
